Communication Is Key: If you have an injury, health issue, disability etc. that may affect your ability to spar or work from certain positions, please tell the instructor - they will be happy to work with you to try to find a suitable adaptation.
Order Of Priorities When Training: Your own safety. Your training partner's safety. The safety of those around you. Technical progress and practice. Winning or losing the round.
General Safety Guidelines: Be aware of the surrounding space, taking care not to collide with nearby groups. Extra care should be taken when in standing position as you will cover ground more quickly and falling body weight poses a greater threat from standing.
Consent: Everyone is entitled to refuse to roll or train with somebody, you do not need to give a reason. Do not pressure people to train with you.
Banned Techniques: Any jumping technique, including jumping closed guard. Scissor takedowns. Slams of any kind.
Hygiene: Ensure you and your training gear are clean before starting class - clothing must be washed between each and every session. Keep feet clean by wearing shoes or flip-flops whilst not on the mat. Bare feet only whilst on the mat (exceptions in cases of injury can be communicated with the coaches. Keep fingernails and toenails short.
Incident Reporting: If an incident does occur, make sure all parties are safe, then notify the instructor.
Health Considerations: If you feel unwell or have a (suspected) skin infection, please stay home or watch from the side to avoid spreading it to others.
